So I Created a Website
Updated: May 21, 2019
First of all, can I just say that websites are so much easier to make these days!? It used to take me hours - sometimes days - to update our business site back in the day; this took a couple of hours to completely create!
I spent most of today researching. I have been reading in whatever spare time I can find. In between cutting and coloring paper circles for my daughter and helping my son spell the word "turd". Yes, you read that right. I have a crazy dream of publishing this book that I wrote and...honestly...I feel sheepish saying it out loud. I feel nervous to tell people that I wrote a book in the first place (they all look at me like maybe I am having a mid-life crisis, which, let's be honest, I probably am) and I am even more apprehensive to tell them that I have aspirations for it. After all, I didn't get a degree in creative writing. I haven't written anything more than...well, the word "turd" in a very long time. The book, it seems, needed to be written. Now, I approach what seems to be an overwhelming mass of information to help me navigate a completely subjective and ever-changing business. I don't know if what I have to say will be of any interest to anyone, but I may as well try.
Today I found hope in the website www.thecreativepenn.com. Specifically, I found great resources for improving my copywriting (aka. selling myself like a shameless, vacuum salesman of words - honestly how it feels sometimes). I am actively looking for better adjectives if you happen upon any. This week I will be revamping my synopsis, query letter, and jacket blurb. Wish me luck!
